Hi, my name is Gail Vail – and (smile), yes, it rhymes.
I love to paint, particularly color and texture. As a result, painting animals and birds (among a plethora of other things) gives me pleasure. Fur and feathers are fun!
This is a Great Blue Heron. The variety of feathers both in color and texture is fascinating. It requires patience, layering, and various brushes to accomplish the right effect.
Look under “Birds” for more, including Bluebirds and Sandhill Cranes. The Cranes are also interesting birds, standing 4-5 feet tall. They perform an amazing dance when they are nervous or excited (or mating). The gray-brown of their feathers is a result of the mud used to groom themselves.
But other animals, flowers, and still life are also so much fun and appealing. Enjoy browsing through my paintings
